Common Concern
The move to assisted living creates a cascade of financial changes. Professional administration keeps everything organized during the transition and beyond.
The decision to move a parent to assisted living or memory care is emotionally difficult. But the financial complexity that follows is often unexpected: facility deposits, ongoing monthly payments, insurance coordination, property decisions, utility transfers, address changes, subscription cancellations, and the ongoing management of accounts that don't stop just because the living situation changed.
Many families discover that the transition creates more financial administration, not less. The parent's bills don't disappear — they multiply. And the family member managing the transition is often doing it while working full-time, raising children, and processing their own emotions about the change.
Granitefield Financial provides professional daily money management that handles the financial administration of the transition and the ongoing management afterward. We coordinate facility payments, manage remaining bills, track insurance, and deliver monthly reports — so the family can focus on their parent's wellbeing rather than paperwork.
Ideally before the move. Establishing financial administration before the transition prevents missed payments, lapsed insurance, and disorganization during an already stressful time. We can begin within 5–7 business days.
We manage the ongoing financial obligations related to the property — mortgage, taxes, insurance, utilities, HOA — during the sale process. We coordinate with the real estate agent and attorney on financial matters but do not provide real estate services.
We track long-term care insurance claims, coordinate with the insurance company on documentation requirements, and ensure payments are applied correctly to facility costs. We do not provide insurance advice but manage the administrative process.
