Professional Financial Administration for Seniors, Families, and the Professionals Who Serve Them
Mission
Seniors and their families deserve a professional, documented, accountable partner to handle the financial administration side of aging — the bills, the reconciliation, the monthly reports, the fraud monitoring, the document organization. Not a bank. Not a CPA. Not a family member. A dedicated daily money manager who shows up every month and keeps everything organized. Granitefield Financial exists to fill that gap — in Fort Mill, across the Carolinas, and for every family that needs it.
About the Founder
Known professionally as Derek Smith
Founder & Principal, Granitefield Financial, LLC
George D. Smith Jr. founded Granitefield Financial, LLC in 2026 after more than a decade in business ownership, operational finance, and client account administration. His work has centered on the practical bookkeeping disciplines families and professionals depend on: organized records, cash-flow monitoring, account reconciliation, vendor coordination, payables and receivables tracking, and financial documentation prepared for advisors, tax preparers, fiduciaries, and family decision-makers. Prior to that, he worked in a corporate capacity at Carnival Cruise Line's headquarters, where he developed skills in large-scale operations, financial coordination, client services, and professional administration.
George holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with double minors in Philosophy and Statistical Methods — a background that directly informs how Granitefield approaches the human, behavioral, and relational dimensions of aging, financial oversight, and family communication.
He founded Granitefield because he saw clearly what was missing: professional-grade financial administration for seniors and their families, built to the documentation standards that elder law attorneys, care managers, and trustees actually need. Everything at Granitefield is built around that standard.
How We Work
We schedule a discovery call to understand the client's situation, goals, and complexity. We recommend the right service package and confirm scope in writing before anything is signed.
We collect six standard authorization forms — bill payment, third-party communication, emergency contacts, electronic delivery consent, and POA coordination as needed. All signed electronically via DocuSign. All stored in the client's encrypted SmartVault portal.
We establish access to all designated accounts, set up the bill payment workflow, organize existing documents, and build the financial baseline. Typically operational within 5–7 business days of signed engagement.
Every month: accounts reconciled, bills coordinated and verified, financial summary report prepared and delivered via SmartVault to the client and all authorized parties. Any irregularities communicated immediately.
Quarterly review calls on Oversight and Concierge tiers. Annual subscription review on all tiers. Open communication with the client's attorney, CPA, and care team throughout.
Commitment
Granitefield Financial provides administrative financial oversight only. We are not investment advisors, attorneys, CPAs, or insurance agents. We coordinate with those professionals at the client's direction. We never make financial decisions on a client's behalf without written authorization. Every action is documented. Every report is structured. Every engagement has a defined scope.
